My poem, “Travel by Starlight,” which just so happens to be the inspiration behind my original illustration serving as the banner on this blog (above), is live at Rootstalk Magazine, an online publication published in conjunction with the Center for Prairie Studies at my alma mater, Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA. Thank you so much to editor Mark Baechtel for accepting this piece!
Beautiful imagery – takes me back to my Iowa visit in 2017. You poem captures the way memories and dreams interplay and fuel one another … especially memories not all that recent. Very evocative!

“until the oaks // grow drunk with nightfall and the winged hosts // soused among their leaves all break into song // to wake me to my life” – love the roll of these words in my mouth (among others) and the images taking flight! Beautiful poem, Stephanie!😎🙏 Lynne

You’re very welcome. I meant to do this the other day, but got sidetracked. Imagine that!
