I’m always glad for the chance to publish (and thereby share π) another love poem inspired by my one and only, Robert Okaji! So, I’m grateful to the poetry editing team, assisted by Candice Daquin, of Parcham Magazine based in Kolkata, India, for including “Letter from the Other Side of Silence” in their August 2023 issue, which was just released on October 12.
“You are The Speaking itself” – wow! Love especially the last few lines, congrats Stephanie!

Absolutely delightful overall … though I felt the angst of opening lines preceding surfacing of the “unsaying” (long ago, but I’ve been in such suspension). Applause for these lines:
“we are of the same string-stuff:
the elements with which Iβve already composed
more terms of affection for you than I dreamed
Iβd ever know!”

Thanks, Jazz, for engaging! The “string-stuff” is what I imagine (or maybe it’s actual? Who knows?) to be the elemental “music/matter” of the love (and poetry) Bob and I share, which can only be accounted for as a unique resonance with the capacity throughout spacetime to recognize the iterations of itself it encounters (that is, if it’s lucky enough ever to do so). I suppose I was playing off the idea of string theory, too, to the extent that I have any understanding of what that’s even supposed to be… As for the terms of endearment I was referring to, just know that they’ve been consistently copious and unprecedentedly spontaneous for as long as I’ve known Bob, but I’ll otherwise spare you the nitty-gritty details… π

To know that this could have been written at any time – then, now, or the span that has been your time together – is a testament to the love in your words.

I composed this one almost exactly five years ago, and you’re right, I could’ve just drafted it yesterday…

Well, with all of its elements, it’s timeless.

Yes, it reveals its most essential self when the “sun shines” on it… πππ
